T20 World Cup 2024: Rishabh Pant Highlights Adjustments For US Conditions

The Indian cricket team commenced their first comprehensive training session in New York ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. This session marked Rishabh Pant's return to the national squad after a 16-month hiatus. Pant had been sidelined following a severe car accident in December 2022.

Pant's comeback began with the IPL 2024, where he led Delhi Capitals (DC) and delivered an impressive performance. His efforts earned him a spot in the India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 as one of the two wicketkeeper-batters.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant expressed his excitement about rejoining the team. "This is one thing I missed a lot (practicing with the Indian team and playing for them). Getting back on the field with the Indian jersey on, it is a different feel altogether and this is something I missed a lot," he said.

Pant also highlighted the challenges of adjusting to conditions in the USA, noting that teams were not accustomed to playing there. He specifically mentioned the brighter sunshine in New York as a factor to consider.

"We are used to playing in certain countries but this is a different prospect. It has opened up a different channel for sport because I feel cricket is growing around the world and getting in a country like the US and getting the exposure here would be nice for cricket as well as USA cricket I guess," Pant added.

"New pitches are there, just getting used to this condition. I think the sun is brighter here, so just getting used to conditions over here and let us see how it goes. Hopefully, I make it count and make it more better from here," Pant concluded.

Pant will be vying for a place in the playing XI alongside Sanju Samson, who scored over 500 runs in IPL 2024. However, given Pant's proven match-winning capabilities and the trust placed in him by Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, he might be favoured over Samson. India is set to begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
