T20 World Cup 2024 Sees India Contemplating Key Inclusion Of Kuldeep Yadav
India is set to face Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Wednesday, June 19. The pitch in Barbados is expected to favour spinners, prompting the Indian team management to consider including Kuldeep Yadav in the playing eleven.
Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist spinner, is India's primary specialist spinner for the tournament. However, he did not feature in the group stage matches due to the nature of pitches in New York, USA. Early reports suggest that the Barbados pitch is dry and brown, indicating that spinners will play a crucial role in the match against Afghanistan.

Currently, Mohammed Siraj is likely to be dropped to make room for Kuldeep Yadav. Arshdeep Singh has provided India with much-needed variation in their pace attack and is unlikely to be excluded against Afghanistan, who have right-hand batters at the top of their order.
Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh will receive support from Hardik Pandya, offering India three genuine pace options. Additionally, Shivam Dube, who bowled against the USA and took two wickets against Bangladesh in a practice match, can also contribute with the ball. Under this scenario, Kuldeep would join spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.
Another option could be dropping the out-of-form Ravindra Jadeja. However, this seems improbable given Jadeja's significant presence in the Indian dressing room alongside Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
India also requires batting depth to counter Afghanistan's world-class spin attack. The Rashid Khan-led team bowled out New Zealand for just 75 runs in Guyana during the group stage.
India's Predicted Playing 11 vs Afghanistan: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh
