T20 World Cup 2024: India-Australia Clash Threatened By Rain

India's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign faces a critical juncture as they prepare to take on Australia in the final Super Eight match on Monday, June 24, at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia.

Despite winning their first two Super Eight matches, Rohit Sharma's team has yet to secure a spot in the semifinals. This uncertainty arises after Australia's unexpected defeat to Afghanistan.

India-Australia Match Faces Rain Threat

Weather forecasts predict significant rain on Monday in Gros Islet, potentially affecting the match. The game is scheduled to start at 10:30 am local time, with rain predictions ranging from 40% to 60% between 10 am and 1 pm.

If rain disrupts the match, both India and Australia will share one point each, concluding the Super Eight stages.

Should rain wash out the match in St. Lucia, India will finish the Super Eight with five points from three matches. This would be sufficient for India to qualify for the semifinals as the top team in their group.

Conversely, a washout would leave Australia with three points from their three matches. This scenario would place Afghanistan's fate in their own hands when they face Bangladesh later.

If Australia's match is washed out and Afghanistan wins against Bangladesh, Afghanistan will advance to the semifinals. However, if Bangladesh defeats Afghanistan, Australia will progress as the second-placed team in the group.
