Former New Zealand batter Scott Styris has identified four or five favourites for the T20 World Cup 2024.

T20 World Cup: India's Odds, Top Picks

Defending champions England are set to face Scotland on Tuesday, while India will play against Ireland on Wednesday. Among the many contenders in the tournament, Styris believes that four to five teams have a significant advantage in the quest for the championship.

"I think there are probably four or maybe five (favourites) at any given time if they all find their form. South Africa looks quite good coming in. The conditions will be very interesting; it can be the determining factor," Styris said during JioCinema's 'Know Your World Cup' programme.

The former Kiwi player also considers the Indian team formidable but pointed out potential concerns regarding their fielding and team balance.

"India has got a lot of talent, but they have holes as well. They don't field really well. The balance of the team could be a problem. West Indies at home, I think will be good. England and Australia, those two sides could be the x-factors," he added.

Historical Context

England won the T20 World Cup in 2022, while Australia lifted the title in 2021. West Indies also won the title in 2016 and are one of the two teams along with England to win the T20 World Cup twice.
