Meet The Captains Leading Their Teams In The T20 World Cup 2024
The T20 World Cup 2024 commenced on June 1 with the group stages, featuring co-hosts USA defeating Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. This year's tournament is the largest ever, expanding to a 20-team competition. Several former champions and debutant teams are competing in this edition.
While many teams announced their squads at the start of May, some revealed their playing groups by May 25, with Pakistan being the latest to disclose their 15-member squad. Numerous teams have retained their captains, while others have introduced new leaders.

For India, Rohit Sharma will lead the side for the second consecutive edition. Similarly, Babar Azam, reinstated as skipper in all three formats earlier this year, will lead Pakistan for the third successive edition.
Defending champion captain Jos Buttler is set for his second consecutive stint as skipper for England. Kane Williamson also returns for his fourth successive captaincy role for New Zealand.
Namibia will be led by Gerhard Erasmus, who returns for another World Cup as captain, similar to Scott Edwards for the Netherlands. Most other teams will be led by new faces.
Australia will be led by Mitchell Marsh, who is set to lead in his first T20 World Cup. Likewise, Wanindu Hasaranga will lead Sri Lanka, and Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh. South Africa will be led by Aiden Markram.
