Suryakumar Yadav Equals Virat Kohli's T20 World Cup Record In Half The Matches

Suryakumar Yadav has matched Virat Kohli with a unique record, yet he stands out due to his superior success rate. This achievement places him at the top of the list.

India faced Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match on Thursday, June 20. Suryakumar played a vital role with the bat, contributing significantly to Rohit Sharma's team's victory.

He scored 53 runs off 28 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes. The Indian batter started slowly in the T20 World Cup but has regained form at a crucial time. Suryakumar is currently the no. 1 ranked batter in T20Is and demonstrated his value with this performance, earning him the Player of the Match award.

With this performance, Suryakumar Yadav equalled the record for most Player of the Match awards alongside India stalwart Virat Kohli in T20I cricket. Both players now have 15 POTM awards in T20 international matches.

Although both Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli have the same number of awards, Suryakumar has earned the top spot due to his better success rate. He has won 15 awards in just 64 matches, compared to Kohli's 120 matches.
