During the third T20I on July 30, Suryakumar Yadav was seen consoling Sanju Samson after he dropped a straightforward catch of Sri Lanka opener Kusal Mendis. This incident occurred in the sixth over when Mohammed Siraj bowled a length delivery that Mendis edged. Unfortunately, Samson failed to hold onto the ball.

Samson, who had already faced disappointment with two consecutive ducks in the series, was visibly upset after missing the catch. Demonstrating leadership, Suryakumar Yadav quickly comforted him by patting his back. The moment was captured in a video shared online.

Sanju Samson did not play in the first match of the series but got his chance in the second game due to Shubman Gill's back spasm. However, he was dismissed for a golden duck. Despite Gill's return for the third T20I, Samson remained in the playing eleven as Rishabh Pant was rested.

India had already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the first two T20Is. In the final match, India faced a batting collapse after being asked to bat first. They were struggling at 48/5 within 8.4 overs.

A partnership between Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag helped India recover slightly. Gill scored 39 off 27 balls while Parag added 26 off 18 balls, contributing to a 54-run stand that took India past hundred runs.

Later, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi added another 32 runs together off 34 balls. Sundar scored 25 off 18 balls while Bishnoi remained unbeaten with eight runs. India eventually finished their innings at 137/9.
