Sunrisers Hyderabad's Innovative T20 Strategy Lauded By CEO Despite IPL Final Loss

Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran expressed pride in her team's efforts during the IPL 2024 season, despite their defeat in the final against Kolkata Knight Riders. She commended the SRH players for redefining T20 cricket throughout the season.

On Sunday, May 26, SRH batters struggled and managed to post only 113 runs in the crucial title clash. In response, KKR chased down the score in 10.3 overs, securing their third IPL title.

Following the loss, Kavya Maran entered the dressing room to motivate the team, expressing gratitude and pride. "You all have made us so proud. I had to come here and tell you that. I mean you have redefined the way we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us. The off-day had to happen today, but a great job, all of you with the bat and ball. Thank you so much," she said in a video posted by SRH on X.

SRH broke several records during the season with their batting performances. They posted the highest score in IPL history twice and also recorded the highest powerplay score in the competition's history.

The Sunrisers first set a new record against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad with a score of 277/3. They surpassed this record a few days later by posting 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Kavya Maran further highlighted that SRH's style of cricket will keep people talking despite their final loss. She acknowledged that fans maintained their belief due to the players' potential.

"And I think even though we finished last place last year, I think all the fans came out in huge numbers because of the potential you guys had. Everyone's talking about us and even though KKR won, I am sure everyone's still going to be talking about the style of cricket we have played," she concluded.
