IPL 2025: Four Key Players Sunrisers Hyderabad May Target Through RTM At Mega Auction

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are gearing up for the IPL 2025 mega auction with a clear strategy to strengthen their team. They aim to rebuild around key players, showing their intent to compete at the highest level.

SRH enters the auction with INR 45 crore and one Right to Match (RTM) card, usable only on an uncapped player. The IPL retention rules allow each team to retain up to five capped players and two uncapped ones, ensuring a balanced squad.

Teams can retain players regardless of nationality, offering flexibility in squad composition. SRH has already retained five capped players: Heinrich Klaasen (INR 23 crore), Pat Cummins (INR 18 crore), Abhishek Sharma (INR 14 crore), Travis Head (INR 14 crore), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (INR 6 crore).

This retention strategy means SRH cannot keep more capped players but can use their RTM card on an uncapped player. This approach allows them to maintain a strong core while exploring new talent.

Among the released players, Abdul Samad stands out as a potential RTM target. The power hitter from Jammu & Kashmir played all 16 games last season, scoring 182 runs with a strike rate of 168.51. His ability to perform in crucial moments makes him valuable for SRH.

Akash Singh is another promising option for SRH's RTM card. The left-arm pacer from Baroda impressed in the Ranji Trophy with five wickets in four innings. His previous IPL experience with Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals adds to his appeal.

Other Uncapped Players Under Consideration

Sanvir Singh could also be considered by SRH for RTM. Although he had limited opportunities last season, his skills as a power hitter and medium-pacer make him a versatile option. He scored 25 runs in six IPL appearances and has potential for growth.

Upendra Singh Yadav is another uncapped player SRH might target through RTM. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, he offers depth behind Heinrich Klaasen. Despite not making his IPL debut yet, his T20 record is impressive with 947 runs in 37 matches.
