KKR's Sunil Narine Joins Elite IPL List With Historic Milestone In MI Win

In a thrilling match that saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinch a victory over Mumbai Indians, Sunil Narine, the all-rounder from KKR, etched his name into the annals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. This win on Saturday (May 11) at the Eden Gardens not only secured KKR's spot in the playoffs but also marked their fourth consecutive win, completing a double over Hardik Pandya's team this season.

Despite Narine's unexpected dismissal for a duck by Jasprit Bumrah's inswinger, his performance with the ball was noteworthy. In his three overs, Narine managed to give away only 21 runs while taking one wicket. This match was significant for Narine as he achieved a remarkable milestone, joining an elite group of players in IPL history.

Narine Hits Elite IPL Milestone

Narine has now become the third player to score over 400 runs and take 15 or more wickets in a single IPL season. With his dismissal of Ishan Kishan in this match, Narine reached his 15th wicket of the season, adding to his tally of 461 runs. This achievement places him alongside cricket legends Jack Kallis and Shane Watson.

Shane Watson, playing for Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL season in 2008, scored 472 runs and took 17 wickets. Jack Kallis, representing Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012, scored 409 runs and also took 15 wickets. Notably, both Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders won their inaugural IPL titles in those respective years.

With Narine's entry into this prestigious list, KKR fans are hopeful that this could signal the end of their 12-year title drought. The 35-year-old's exceptional performance this season has been a key factor in KKR's success and their journey to the playoffs.
