Sunil Gavaskar Denounces Fake Article Involving Rohit Sharma And Threatens Legal Action

Sunil Gavaskar, a respected cricket icon, has firmly denied writing an article falsely attributed to him. The former Indian cricketer is considering legal action against the digital platform responsible for publishing it.

The article in question was published online and falsely credited Gavaskar with praising Indian cricket stars Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli. This misrepresentation has prompted Gavaskar to respond publicly.

Gavaskar Calls Out Fake Article on Sharma

In a video message, Gavaskar expressed his disappointment and warned his followers, stating, "Never believe everything you see on the Internet #alwaysverify." He made it clear that the article was not his work.

"Hi, this is Sunil Gavaskar and I want to say that there is a website Cricket Ception which has printed an article under my name. I have to say that that is completely fake, I have not contributed to that at all and I want to tell that website to take it down immediately," he declared.

Gavaskar stressed the gravity of the situation by threatening legal action if the website did not apologize and retract the article swiftly. He stated, "Issue an apology. If you don't do that immediately, I will give the matter to my legal team. So don't believe a word of what you've read, this is a completely fake article and attributed to me."

False Claims in the Article

The misleading article titled "A New Era in Leadership: Bumrah's Captaincy and Kohli's Leadership Revive Team India" appeared on Friday evening. It falsely claimed a new chapter for Indian cricket with fabricated statements about BCCI seeking new leadership and Rohit Sharma's absence being beneficial.

The seriousness of this incident is evident as Gavaskar posted his video while fulfilling commentary duties in Perth. His response underscores his commitment to addressing misinformation.

India's Performance in Perth

Meanwhile, India leads Australia at the end of day two in Perth. After dismissing Australia for just 104 runs, India's batsmen excelled in their second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have performed exceptionally well, taking India to 172 without loss and securing a strong lead of 218 runs.
