South Africa Vs West Indies: Proteas Unveil Squad For Test Series
South Africa has announced their Test squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Notably, left-arm pacer Marco Jansen will be rested for the two-match series.
The tour begins with the first Test on 7 in Trinidad, followed by the second Test a week later in Guyana. South Africa (CSA) has introduced some new faces to the squad.

David Bedingham, Dane Paterson, and Dane Piedt have been retained from the makeshift squad that toured New Zealand in February. This gives them another opportunity to prove their mettle. Matthew Breetzke, a consistent performer in domestic cricket, has earned his first Test call-up.
Except for Marco Jansen, South Africa's key players are back after missing the New Zealand series due to SA20 commitments. Despite a disappointing 2-0 loss against New Zealand, they remain focused on the World Test Championship (WTC) finals.
Despite their series loss in New Zealand, South Africa is seventh on the WTC table with four matches played. They have eight more Tests scheduled in this cycle: two each against West Indies and Bangladesh, and home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This gives them a chance to climb up the rankings and potentially secure a spot in the WTC final.

Wicket-keeper batter Ryan Rickelton returns to the squad after last playing in the home series against the West Indies in March 2023. His inclusion adds depth to South Africa's batting lineup.
This tour is crucial for South Africa as they aim to improve their standing in the World Test Championship. With several key players returning and new talents being tested, they hope to perform well against West Indies.
