Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured the media rights for all Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments from 2024 to 2031, including the Asia Cup. This announcement was made by the ACC on Friday, November 22.

Jay Shah, the chief of the ACC, shared this significant development on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. He expressed his excitement about the partnership with Sony Sports Networks, highlighting that it grants them exclusive media rights for all ACC Asia Cup tournaments during this period.

Sony Pictures Network India Gains ACC Broadcast Rights

"On behalf of @ACCMedia1, I am delighted to announce ACC's partnership with @SonySportsNetwk India, granting them exclusive media rights for all ACC Asia Cup tournaments from 2024 to 2031," Shah posted on X.

The agreement represents a substantial increase of over 70% from the previous rights cycle. This reflects the rising global importance of ACC events. The collaboration with Sony is expected to deliver an exceptional viewing experience and set new standards for Asian cricket.

The deal encompasses broadcasting and digital rights for all ACC tournaments over the next eight years. It highlights the growing global stature and interest in these events. Previously, Star India held these media rights until 2023.

With this new agreement, Sony will broadcast various editions of men's and women's Asia Cups, Under-19 Asia Cups, and Emerging Teams Asia Cups. The joint statement emphasized this expansion in coverage.

Jay Shah stated that Sony Pictures Networks India is well-equipped to provide world-class coverage and an immersive viewing experience for fans worldwide. He praised Sony's extensive expertise in broadcasting and their innovative approach to covering Asian cricket.

The increased value of these rights will allow the ACC to invest significantly in grassroots programs, infrastructure development, and talent pathways. This focus will particularly benefit associate nations within the cricketing community.

Gaurav Banerjee, managing director and CEO of SPNI, expressed his enthusiasm about bringing these action-packed tournaments to viewers over the next eight years. He highlighted that matches between India and Pakistan would be part of this exciting lineup.

"ACC tournaments have created unforgettable moments and set the stage for the most intense Asian Cricket rivalries. We eagerly look forward to sharing the thrill and spirit of these matches with cricket fans," he said in a media statement.
