Sohail Tanvir Makes History With First-Ever 5-Wicket Haul In Nepal Premier League 2024

Sohail Tanvir, a former Pakistan fast bowler, made history by becoming the first player to take a five-wicket haul in the Nepal Premier League. This achievement occurred during the Kathmandu Gurkhas vs Chitwan Rhinos match on December 2, 2024.

In the match, Tanvir's impressive bowling figures of 5 for 21 in four overs helped Chitwan Rhinos limit Kathmandu Gurkhas to 111/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite retiring from international cricket in March 2023, Tanvir showcased his skills once again.

Sohail Tanvir Claims Historic 5-Wicket Haul

Tanvir's journey in T20 cricket has been remarkable. He was the first-ever Purple Cap winner in the Indian Premier League (IPL), known for his ability to take crucial wickets. On December 2, he dismissed Stephen Eskinazi with his very first delivery.

Continuing his spell, Tanvir removed Michael Levitt for 25 runs in his second over and Bhim Sharki in his third. Returning for another spell, he took out opposition captain Karan KC and Shahab Alam in his final over.

The left-arm seamer has played extensively across various franchise leagues worldwide. Before retiring internationally, he participated in legends cricket tournaments globally. Earlier this year, he played at the World Championship of Legends tournament in the UK.

In addition to these appearances, Tanvir also competed in the US T10 tournament and several other leagues throughout 2023. His career includes stints with Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators from 2016 to 2022.

Memorable IPL Contribution

Notably, Tanvir was part of Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals team during IPL's inaugural season. His contributions were instrumental in helping them secure their only title win to date.

Throughout his T20 career, Tanvir has taken an impressive total of 389 wickets. He was also part of Pakistan's victorious T20 World Cup campaign in 2009.

Continued Success Across Leagues

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Tanvir last played for Quetta Gladiators. Over his PSL career, he claimed 55 wickets from 61 matches. Additionally, he has participated in both the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The seasoned cricketer continues to leave a mark wherever he plays with his unique bowling action and experience gained over years of playing at different levels.
