Siliguri Strikers Clinch Victory In Bengal Pro T20 League Opener Against Harbour Diamonds

The inaugural season of the Bengal Pro T20 League commenced with a thrilling match as Siliguri Strikers triumphed over Harbour Diamonds by 8 runs.

Harbour Diamonds captain Manoj Tiwary won the toss and chose to bowl first at Eden Gardens.

Siliguri Beats Harbour in T20 Opener

Servotech Siliguri Strikers opened the batting with Abhishek Raman and Ankur Paul. Raman faced the first ball, bowled by Aman Singh Sekhawat, while Paul hit the first boundary of the league.

Mohammed Kaif claimed the first wicket of the BPL T20, dismissing Raman for just 5 runs. Paul continued his aggressive play, scoring 31 before being dismissed by Anurag Tiwari. At the halfway mark, Strikers were 76 for 4 and soon lost captain Ritwik Roy Chowdhury for a single run.

Badal Balyan became the first Impact Substitute in the league, replacing Harbour Diamonds bowler Aritra Chatterjee, who took 2 wickets in his four overs.

Vikas and Shantanu added crucial runs for Siliguri, but Prayas Ray Barman broke their partnership by bowling out Vikas for 20. Shantanu scored a decent 44 before Prayas claimed his wicket. Siliguri was eventually all out for 141 runs.

Prayas Ray Barman was the standout bowler for Harbour Diamonds with three wickets. Captain Manoj Tiwary also made an impact with four catches.

During their run chase, Harbour Diamonds lost two quick wickets as Suvankar Bal and Sayan Sekhar Mondal departed early. Siliguri's bowlers excelled in the powerplay, restricting Diamonds to a moderate score.

Prayas Ray Barman played a key role with the bat, scoring 32 runs off 18 balls before being dismissed by Vikas after a superb catch by Rajkumar at short fine-leg. At the halfway stage, Harbour Diamonds were 65 for 4.

Vivek Singh and Kaushik Giri formed a decent partnership, but Giri was dismissed for 12 runs, leaving Diamonds needing 58 more runs. Captain Manoj Tiwary struggled as Siliguri's bowlers maintained control. Badal Balyan's valiant knock of 37 in just 22 balls ended in the last over, sealing Harbour Diamonds' fate as they were all out for 133 runs.

Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal had an outstanding spell, taking 4 wickets, while Rajkumar Pal picked up 3 wickets. India pacer Akash Deep also impressed, conceding one wicket for 22 runs in his four overs.
