Siddharth Kaul Retires From Indian Cricket Following Unsold Bid In IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Siddharth Kaul, a former pacer for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has announced his retirement from Indian cricket. This decision comes shortly after he was not selected in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The 34-year-old from Punjab shared this news on social media, expressing his intention to explore opportunities in overseas leagues.

Kaul's cricket journey includes representing India in three ODIs and three T20 matches during 2018-19. He also played in the IPL for teams like Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite being listed for the IPL Auction, he wasn't picked for bidding this time.

Throughout his career, Kaul has achieved significant milestones. He was part of India's victorious U-19 World Cup team in 2008 alongside Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. In domestic cricket, he played 88 First-Class matches for Punjab, taking 297 wickets. His List A career includes 199 wickets from 111 games, while he claimed another 182 wickets in 145 T20s.

Kaul holds the record as the highest wicket-taker in both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history. He secured 155 dismissals in the former and took 120 wickets in 87 matches of the latter. His last competitive appearance was in a Ranji Trophy match between Haryana and Punjab earlier this month.

Expressing gratitude, Kaul said on X: "The time has now come to call time on my career in India and announce my retirement." He thanked God for guiding him, fans for their unwavering support, and his family for their sacrifices during challenging times.

He also expressed appreciation to his teammates over the years for unforgettable dressing room memories and friendships. Kaul acknowledged BCCI's role in fulfilling his dream of representing India and winning the U-19 World Cup in 2008.
