Shikhar Dhawan, a former Indian cricket opener, expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the first season of the Nepal Premier League. He will represent Karnali Yaks in this tournament. The league is scheduled to commence on November 30 in Kathmandu, featuring top players globally, with the final match slated for December 21 at Tribhuvan University grounds.
Dhawan's involvement has generated significant attention, and he shared his reasons for joining the league. "I'm excited to take part in the inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League and turn up for the Karnali Yaks. Everyone has seen the passion that exists for the game in the country and this league will further help the game grow in the country," Dhawan told FanCode, the official broadcaster of the Nepal Premier League in India.

The participation of international stars like Dhawan is expected to boost cricket's popularity in Nepal. "With top players from around the world coming to Nepal, the young players will learn a lot from their experience. I can't wait for the first match and the action to get underway!" Dhawan added enthusiastically.
Other notable cricketers set to join include Ben Cutting, Unmukt Chand, Ravi Bopara, Chadwick Walton, and Marchand de Lange. These players will bring diverse skills and experiences to share with local talent.
The league features eight franchises representing various regions: Kathmandu Gurkhas, Chitwan Rhinos, Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bolts, Pokhara Avengers, Lumbini Lions, Karnali Yaks, and Sudurpashchim Royals. A total of 32 matches are planned, with a reserve day allocated for the final.
