Shaheen Afridi Trolled Despite Early Success In PAK Vs IRE Match
PAK vs IRE: Shaheen Afridi made a significant impact on Ireland's top-order by taking wickets in the first over of the match held in Florida on Sunday, June 16. Despite his performance, the star left-arm bowler faced criticism from fans.
Pakistan failed to qualify for the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 after the USA's match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain on Friday. Consequently, Pakistan's last match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland became inconsequential.

After opting to bat first, Shaheen Afridi dismissed Andrew Balbirnie by cleaning his stumps on the third ball of the first over. On the fifth delivery of the same over, Lorcan Tucker edged an out-swinging delivery into the hands of wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan.
Mohammad Amir picked a wicket in the second over before Afridi returned to dismiss Harry Tector for a six-ball duck on the final delivery of the third over. The full-length delivery hit Tucker's back leg, and his decision not to take a review did not help him further.
Despite his world-class bowling with the new ball, Shaheen was harshly trolled by fans. Much of this criticism stemmed from his struggle to get wickets in the previous three matches of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The former Pakistan captain failed to pick any wicket against USA as the Men in Green lost that match. He managed to pick one wicket each against India and Canada. Mocking Shaheen Afridi, a fan remarked that the 24-year-old has learnt the art of taking first-over wickets from India's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who registered figures of 4/9 in his last outing against USA.
