Australia Calls Up Sean Abbott As Replacement For Injured Spencer Johnson For UK T20I Tour
Sean Abbott has been named as the replacement for the injured Spencer Johnson in Australia's T20I squad for their upcoming tour to the United Kingdom. The team will face Scotland in three T20Is before heading to England for another three T20Is.
Left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson was ruled out of the UK tour due to a side strain he sustained while playing in The Hundred. Australia decided to rest regular bowlers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc for the T20Is, which are set to begin next month.

Johnson made his international debut in August 2023 and has played six international matches so far. He has taken six wickets in T20Is, averaging 26.66. The left-arm fast bowler was expected to fill in for Starc, who is being rested for this leg of the tour.
"He (Johnson) will return home for further assessment and rehabilitation before the Australian summer," Cricket Australia stated, according to ICC.
Abbott, who is also participating in The Hundred, was selected as Johnson's replacement in the T20I squad. Initially slated to play only in the ODI leg of the tour, Abbott has 15 T20I appearances with 15 wickets at an average of 26.60.
Abbott will share fast bowling responsibilities with Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett, and Nathan Ellis. They will be supported by all-rounders Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, and Aaron Hardie, who can contribute with overs when needed.
Skipper Mitchell Marsh can also bowl if required. He leads a team featuring fresh faces like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Cooper Connolly. Other squad members include Tim David, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, and Travis Head.
T20I Series Schedule
Australia's UK tour begins with a three-match T20I series against Scotland from September 4-7. Following that, they will play a three-match T20I series in England before concluding with a five-game ODI series.
