Scotland Triumphs Over Namibia With Berrington's Unbeaten 47 In T20 World Cup
Skipper Richie Berrington's unbeaten 47 guided Scotland to a 5-wicket victory over Namibia in the Group B match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, June 6, at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
After rain disrupted their opening match against England, Scotland secured a tough win over Namibia, placing them at the top of Group B with 3 points from 2 matches.

Chasing 156, Scotland faced difficulties at 73/4 in 11 overs. However, Berrington and Michael Leask turned the game around with a 74-run partnership in 41 balls.
Leask scored a quick 35 off 17 balls before departing. Berrington then sealed the win with a six in the penultimate over, completing the chase with nine balls to spare, despite the tense moments.
For Namibia, skipper Gerhard Erasmus was notable both with the bat and ball. His fifty went in vain, but he also claimed figures of 2 for 29 in 4 overs. Bernard Scholtz, Tangeni Lungameni, and Ruben Trumpelmann took one wicket each.
Earlier, Namibia opted to bat and set a target of 156, thanks to Erasmus' 52 from 31 balls. Brad Wheal struck early for Scotland with figures of 3 for 33. Brad Currie and Leask also took two wickets each.
Erasmus shared a crucial 51-run stand with wicketkeeper-batter Zane Green (28 off 27 balls) before departing in the 14th over at 106/5. Green and David Wiese (14 off 13 balls) pushed Namibia closer to the 150 mark.
This result gives Scotland a chance to deny either Australia or England a path into the second round. Namibia now has one win and one loss, having previously claimed a dramatic Super Over win against Oman.
Group B action continues on Saturday, June 8, with a heavyweight clash as pre-tournament favourites and 2021 champions Australia take on defending champions England.
