Sanju Samson Expresses Emotions After Historic Century For India Against South Africa

Sanju Samson made a significant impact for India in the first T20I against South Africa on Friday, November 8. He scored his second consecutive century in this format, showcasing his exceptional skills.

From the beginning, Samson displayed confidence by hitting boundaries with both skill and strength. His innings started with some well-timed shots, establishing the pace for his performance.

Samju Samson's Historic Century for India

During the powerplay, Samson specifically targeted Keshav Maharaj, demonstrating his determination to dominate South Africa's bowlers. The Kerala native continued his aggressive play throughout his innings, effortlessly hitting fours and sixes at Kingsmead.

Samson reached his century in just 47 balls, marking it as the fastest hundred by an Indian against South Africa in T20Is. This achievement also made him the first Indian to score consecutive centuries in T20Is. He hit 7 fours and 10 sixes, matching Rohit Sharma's record for most boundaries by an Indian in T20Is.

"I was in a zone, it was automatically flowing, so I let it flow. Focus on one ball at a time and that helps. The wicket does play a big role here, extra bounce and coming from India we do take time to understand the wicket," Samson said.

Reflecting on his form, Samson expressed emotions about finally showcasing his talent after waiting for a long time. He had been patient for years before getting this opportunity to shine.

"If I think a lot I will get emotional. I waited for this moment for 10 years, I'm very happy, grateful and blessed. But I would like to keep my feet on the ground, be in the moment and enjoy. Looks a really good score, if we bowl to our 80% potential we should be fine," Samson added.

Impact on Team Performance

Samson's century played a crucial role in helping India post a substantial total of 202 runs as visitors against South Africa. His performance set a strong foundation for India's innings.
