Sanju Samson Poised To Lead Kerala In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy After Stellar T20I Performances

Sanju Samson is preparing to represent Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Following his impressive performance for India in the T20I series against South Africa, he is expected to swiftly transition to domestic cricket duties.

Samson's participation in the SMAT tournament, India's main domestic T20 competition, seems highly probable. MyKhel reports that the Indian cricketer is likely to join Kerala's squad soon.

Sanju Samson to Captain Kerala in SMAT

In recent T20I matches, Samson showcased remarkable form. He scored his first T20I century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad and followed it up with another hundred against South Africa in Durban. This achievement made him the first Indian to score consecutive T20I centuries.

Although his performance dipped with two consecutive ducks in subsequent matches, he bounced back strongly. In Johannesburg, he scored another century, reaffirming his exceptional batting prowess.

If Samson plays in the SMAT, he will lead Kerala as captain. The announcement of Kerala's squad is expected soon, and Samson will replace Sachin Baby as captain. Sachin Baby has been leading Kerala in the Ranji Trophy and recently became their all-format highest scorer.

Kerala is placed in Group E for the Mushtaq Ali Trophy, starting on November 23. All group-stage matches for Kerala will take place in Hyderabad, beginning with a match against Services on the opening day.

With no limited-overs cricket scheduled for India over the next three months, Samson aims to maintain his form by playing domestically. His participation ensures he stays match-fit and ready for future international commitments.
