Sachin Baby's Inspiring Return To IPL 2025 With Sunrisers Hyderabad Highlights Perseverance And Dedication

Kerala has become a significant player in Indian cricket, showcasing talent from Kasargod to Kollam. Among these talents, Sachin Baby from Idukki is set to make waves in the IPL 2025. His return to the league marks a new chapter for this seasoned cricketer.

The IPL 2025 auction was a turning point for Sachin Baby as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) selected him. After two years away from the IPL, the 35-year-old's dedication paid off. As captain of Kerala's Ranji team, he now joins SRH with renewed vigour.

Sachin Baby Returns to IPL with SRH

Sachin Baby's fitness stands out in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. At "Level 35," as he calls his age, he remains agile and competitive. He attributes his fitness to his Kerala roots, especially Idukki's natural environment.

"Actually, I am from Kerala, and athleticism is already in our blood. If you see cricketers from Kerala, they are very athletic. I am from Idukki, a forest area, where I used to walk, climb, and roam around. That fitness is natural to me."

He emphasises careful attention to diet and exercise for career longevity. "At 35, I need to be really careful about the food I eat, my gym sessions, and my running. I know with my current fitness, I can play for one or two more years."

Sachin Baby had previously played for SRH in 2018 before joining other teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite going unsold in several auctions, he remained hopeful and emotional when SRH bid for him this time.

"When you get unsold, it's not a good feeling. You feel very low. But I always told myself, 'One day my time will come.' All I could control was working hard day in and day out."

He felt anxious during the auction when his name wasn't initially called but was thrilled when SRH finally picked him.

Versatility on the Field

Sachin Baby offers flexibility with his batting skills across various positions. He is ready to adapt to any role SRH assigns him.

"I have batted everywhere - from opening the innings to number six. I am ready to do whatever job the team management gives me."

Inspiration for Young Cricketers

Sachin's journey inspires young players from Kerala facing similar challenges at auctions. He stresses persistence and hard work as keys to success.

"I've been through this phase many times... if something is meant for you, it will happen."

He encourages youngsters not to give up on their dreams despite setbacks.

Kerala's Performance in SMAT

Sachin also discussed Kerala's performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy alongside stars like Sanju Samson. Despite recent losses, team morale remains high.

"We believe in every player in this team... It's about staying positive and learning from every experience."

Sachin Baby's story shows that age doesn't limit one's dreams. His commitment to fitness and adaptability has brought him back into IPL action with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
