Karim Urges Gambhir To Pick Key Players For Upcoming Sri Lanka Series
With the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20 cricket, a new era has begun for young Indian cricketers. This shift has opened doors for fresh talent to shine in the T20 format.
The recent Zimbabwe T20 series saw India's young players deliver an impressive 4-1 victory. This performance has set the stage for upcoming matches and highlighted the potential of these emerging stars.

Former national selector Saba Karim believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill should be chosen as openers for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Karim thinks these two can effectively replace Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired after India's second T20 World Cup win in the Caribbean.
"The most important positions will be in the top order only. I feel the selectors should go with these two (Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill) only," Saba Karim said to Sony Sports.
Karim also stressed the need to include Abhishek Sharma in the squad for the Sri Lanka series. The left-handed batsman scored a century in Zimbabwe, and Karim believes he deserves a spot in the team.
"I feel Abhishek Sharma should get a place at least in the 15 because you have Rishabh Pant at No. 3 and Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4," Karim added.
New Leadership Dynamics
The tour of Sri Lanka later this month will feature three T20Is and three ODIs. This tour is significant as it marks Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as head coach, along with a new T20I captain leading India.
"It also depends on who is the captain in T20Is. Gautam Gambhir is the head coach, so what is the thinking of the captain and head coach, and how they want to take the team forward. They will have to select players accordingly. Ruturaj Gaikwad is also there. So many players are staking a claim in the top order," Karim added.
The upcoming series against Sri Lanka offers India a chance to explore new leadership dynamics and player combinations under Gambhir's guidance.
