SA20 2025 Reveals Full Retentions And Pre-Signed Players List For All Teams
All six teams have begun unveiling their retention lists for the upcoming SA20 season. The defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, along with Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals, have already announced their retained players. The remaining teams will disclose their lists before the Season 3 auction.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape have kept Aiden Markram as captain, aiming for a third consecutive Betway SA20 title. They have also retained the core squad that led them to back-to-back championships.

Paarl Royals 2025 Retentions: David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Bjorn Fortuin, Andile Phehlukwayo, Mitchell van Buuren, Codi Yusuf, Keith Dudgeon, Nqaba Peter, Kwena Maphaka, Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
SA20 2025 Pre-Signed or Traded Players List
- Pretoria Capitals: Will Smeed (overseas, England)
- Durban's Super Giants: Kane Williamson (overseas, New Zealand), Brandon King (overseas, West Indies), Chris Woakes (overseas, England)
- Sunrisers Eastern Cape: David Bedingham, Zak Crawley (overseas, England), Roelof van der Merwe
- Joburg Super Kings: Tabraiz Shamsi (Traded)
- Paarl Royals: Joe Root (overseas, England), Dayyaan Galiem (Traded)
The Paarl Royals have retained David Miller as captain and traded spinner Tabraiz Shamsi to Joburg Super Kings for Dayyaan Galiem. They also retained Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phehlukwayo among others.
The Joburg Super Kings have kept Faf Du Plessis as captain along with Donovan Ferreira and Moeen Ali. Durban's Super Giants have also retained most of their previous season's players.
MI Cape Town has retained Kagiso Rabada and Dewald Brevis among others. However, Pretoria Capitals are yet to announce their retentions. Each team in South Africa's top T20 league consists of 19 players including a Rookie and Wildcard with up to eight overseas players allowed.
A match day Playing XI can include a maximum of four overseas players and at least seven South Africans. Here is the SA20 2025 retention list for all six teams ahead of the auction:
