Rohit Sharma Bids Emotional Farewell To Coach Rahul Dravid In Heartfelt Tribute

Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team has officially come to an end. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Gautam Gambhir as his successor. This change follows India's recent T20 World Cup victory, which marked a high point in Dravid's coaching career.

The past several months have been emotionally charged for both the Indian players and Rahul Dravid. After the World Cup 2023 disappointment, Dravid was ready to step down. However, a persuasive phone call from Rohit Sharma convinced him to stay on, culminating in India's T20 World Cup win.

Sharma's Farewell to Dravid

Rohit Sharma shared a heartfelt message on Instagram dedicated to Rahul Dravid. "Dear Rahul bhai, I have been trying to find the right words to properly express my feelings on this but I'm not sure I ever will so here's my attempt," he wrote.

"Since my childhood days, I have looked up to you just like billions of others but I was lucky enough to get to work with you this closely. You are an absolute stalwart of this game but you left all of your accolades and achievements at the door and walked in as our coach and came on a level where we all felt comfortable enough to say just about anything to you. That is your gift, your humility and your love for this game even after all this time," it added.

The bond between Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid has been special. As India prepares for a new chapter under Gautam Gambhir's guidance, Rohit expressed his gratitude towards Dravid through an emotional note.

In his message, Rohit also mentioned how his wife Ritika referred to Rahul Dravid as his "work wife." He concluded with a touching note: "I have learnt so much from you and every memory will be cherished. My wife refers to you as my work wife and I'm lucky to get to call you that too. This was the only thing missing from your arsenal and I'm so happy that we got to achieve it together. Rahul bhai it has been an absolute privilege to get to call you my confidant, my coach and my friend," the message concluded.

The partnership between Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid has seen many highs and lows. Their collaboration reached its pinnacle with India's T20 World Cup triumph, making it a fitting end to Dravid's coaching stint.
