Rohit Sharma Commends Bumrah's Stellar Bowling In T20 World Cup, Keeps Mum On Details

India captain Rohit Sharma commended Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional bowling performance against Pakistan on Sunday, June 9.

The Indian pacer delivered an outstanding performance, dismantling the Pakistan batting line-up. Defending a modest total of 119 runs, Bumrah showcased his skills with impressive figures of 3 for 14 in his four overs.

Bumrah's bowling stifled Pakistan, securing the crucial wicket of Babar Azam early on. In the middle overs, he dismissed the set Mohammad Rizwan and later sent back Iftikhar Ahmed.

Rohit Sharma lauded Bumrah's performance, describing him as a genius but refrained from discussing his star pacer in detail.

"He is going from strength to strength. We all know what he can do. Not going to talk too much about him. We want him to be in that mindset throughout the World Cup. He is a genius, we all know that," Rohit said after the match.

Former India player Sreesanth suggested that Rohit's reluctance to discuss Bumrah might stem from a desire to avoid jinxing the pacer. The Indian captain likely wanted to keep the focus on winning the T20 World Cup without creating excessive hype around the team and their performance.

Rohit also expressed confidence in India's ability to defend their total due to the pitch conditions and their strong bowling attack.

"With a bowling line-up like that you feel confident to do the job. Halfway through the stage when they were batting, we got everyone together and said that if it can happen to us, it can happen to them," Rohit added.

With this victory over Pakistan, India has ascended to the top of the Group A points table with 4 points from two matches. Their next match is against USA on Wednesday, and a win would almost guarantee India's qualification for the Super Eights as group winners.
