Rohit Sharma's Mom Skips Doctor Visit To Celebrate T20 World Cup Win

Rohit Sharma's mother, Poornima, skipped a doctor's appointment to witness her son's cherished moment on Thursday, July 4. Team India celebrated their T20 World Cup victory at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Despite being surrounded by media and fans, Poornima was thrilled to reunite with her son after more than a month. She hugged and kissed Rohit, with the heartwarming video quickly going viral on social media.

Rohit's Mom Chooses Celebration Over Health

As the celebrations continued at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Rohit and his mother shared an emotional moment in the president's box. The Indian team was felicitated for their remarkable achievement.

Rohit Sharma and his team defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final held in Barbados last week. This victory ended Team India's long wait for an ICC trophy and a World Cup win.

The Indian team arrived in the country after a few days' delay caused by Hurricane Beryl. They were greeted with a rapturous welcome from supporters in Delhi. Later, lakhs of fans assembled in Mumbai streets for an open bus parade to greet the players.

In an interview with Indian Express, Poornima revealed she wasn't feeling well but still attended the event. "I was not feeling well today and had a doctor's appointment, but I still came as I wanted to see this day. I can't express my happiness. Look at the cheering. I have never experienced this kind of atmosphere," she said.

A Mother's Pride

"The amount of love he is getting is because of his hard work and dedication. I'm the happiest mother today. What more can I ask now! This day won't come again in life," Poornima expressed her joy as she watched her son take a lap of honour.

Poornima also disclosed that Rohit had informed her about his plans to retire from T20Is before the tournament began. She had encouraged him to "try to win". "Before going to the World Cup, he had come to meet us and said that he wanted to quit T20Is after this. I just said try to win," she added.

The celebration marked a significant milestone for Rohit Sharma and Team India, bringing immense pride and joy to their supporters across the nation.
