Rohit Sharma Achieves Milestone As India's Captain At T20 World Cup

India captain Rohit Sharma has achieved a significant milestone during the T20 World Cup semifinal against England on Thursday, June 27.

Sharma's performance in the semifinal was crucial for India. Despite an early setback with Virat Kohli's dismissal, Sharma steadied the innings. At the time of a rain interruption, he remained unbeaten on 37 runs from 26 balls.

Rohit Sharma's Elite Milestone

During this knock, Sharma joined an elite group of Indian cricket captains. He became the fifth Indian captain to score over 5000 international runs across all formats. This achievement places him among some of India's most esteemed cricket leaders.

The 37-year-old now has a total of 5013 runs as captain in all formats, including his current unbeaten score. Of these, 1876 runs have been scored in T20 Internationals.

Among Indian captains, Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest number of runs scored as captain. Kohli amassed 12883 runs across all formats during his tenure. Following him is former captain MS Dhoni with 11207 runs.

The list also includes Mohammad Azharuddin with 8095 runs and Sourav Ganguly with 7643 runs, showcasing the remarkable achievements of India's cricket leaders.

This milestone highlights Sharma's consistent performance and leadership in international cricket. His ability to anchor the innings under pressure continues to be invaluable for India.
