Rohit Sharma Confirms His Continuation In ODI And Test Formats For The Foreseeable Future
Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team captain, has confirmed his retirement from T20I but plans to continue playing in ODI and Test formats. He shared this news during an event in Dallas.
The 37-year-old announced his T20I retirement after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies on June 29. At that time, he mentioned his intention to keep playing in the other two formats.

Fans are eager to see Rohit Sharma in action during India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. However, he is expected to rest for the three ODI matches following the three T20Is.
The ODI series begins in Colombo on August 2. With Rohit currently enjoying his break outside India, he might choose not to participate in these games.
Newly-appointed India head coach Gautam Gambhir will start his tenure with the Sri Lanka series. He would prefer to begin his partnership with Rohit Sharma then, or they might have to wait until September when Bangladesh visits India for two Test matches.
During an event in Dallas, USA, Rohit reiterated his commitment to playing for India. "I just said it. I don't do that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play for a while," he stated confidently.
The audience at the event cheered enthusiastically after hearing Rohit's assurance. He was in Dallas to inaugurate his Crickingdom cricket academy.
Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir will soon start planning for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, which India aims to qualify for. It remains to be seen if Rohit will participate in the next ODI World Cup scheduled in South Africa in 2027.
Fans hope that Rohit continues to contribute significantly to Indian cricket as he transitions away from T20I matches while focusing on ODIs and Tests.
