Rohit Sharma Advocates For Fair Reward Distribution Among Support Staff

Rohit Sharma's kind gesture towards underpaid support staff has come to light amid Rahul Dravid's bonus reduction.

The prize money announcement on July 1 raised some concerns. The Rs 125 crore was to be shared among players, coaches, and reserve players, but some support staff members were expected to receive much less. These included throwdown specialists, analysts, masseuses, physios, and others.

Rohit Sharma's Push for Staff Rewards

Rohit Sharma stepped in and demanded equal pay for these essential team members. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, a player revealed on a flight from Barbados to India that Rohit was willing to give up part of his own money to ensure everyone got paid fairly.

If Dravid's gesture meant that batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip received Rs 2.5 crore each, Rohit's act ensured the rest of the support staff got Rs 2 crore each. This decision was made after Rohit's demand to BCCI, who listened to their captain and hiked the reward for the staff.

The outgoing coach, Dravid, showed his humility by giving up a Rs 2.5 crore bonus and accepting the same amount as the rest of the support staff. However, it was Rohit Sharma's proposal that ensured underpaid support staff weren't left disappointed.

Rohit's generous offer is why he is one of the most liked and respected captains in Indian cricket history. Youngsters in Team India hold him in high regard and see him as an elder brother they can always rely on.

This belief in Rohit was further solidified when it was revealed that he ensures a strong bond with young players who join the team under his leadership. His actions demonstrate his commitment to thinking about everyone involved in the team's success.

With Gautam Gambhir now joining as the India coach, Rohit Sharma will be hoping to strike another productive partnership. India will be touring Sri Lanka for a limited overs series as Gambhir takes over for the first time, but Rohit may not be a part of that team as BCCI is likely to give him an extended vacation.
