Rishabh Pant's Emotional Farewell To Delhi Capitals As He Joins Lucknow Super Giants For ₹27 Crore

Rishabh Pant, the former captain of Delhi Capitals (DC), shared an emotional farewell message after being picked by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record ₹27 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This move ends Pant's nine-year journey with DC, where he started as a teenager and became a leader and fan favourite.

Pant expressed his gratitude towards the fans who supported him through thick and thin, especially during his recovery from a severe car accident. "What made this journey all worthwhile is you, the fans. You've embraced me, cheered for me, and stood by me," he said.

Rishabh Pant Leaves Delhi Capitals for LSG

In his heartfelt Instagram post, Pant wrote, "Goodbyes are never easy." He reflected on his time with Delhi Capitals, saying it was an incredible experience both on and off the field. "The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing," he added.

Pant also mentioned how much he had grown over the years with the team. "I came here as a teenager, and we grew together over the last nine years," he noted. His departure marks a significant change for both him and the franchise.

Pant's transfer to LSG makes him the most expensive player in IPL history, surpassing Shreyas Iyer's ₹26.75 crore deal with Punjab Kings earlier in the same auction. The Lucknow team outbid Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals to secure Pant.

Delhi Capitals did attempt to retain Pant by exercising their Right to Match at ₹20.75 crore but eventually withdrew from the bidding war. Despite leaving DC, Pant's legacy remains strong as he played a crucial role over nine seasons.

Heartfelt Messages from Team Members

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal also shared an emotional message on Twitter about Pant's departure. "To Rishabh Pant, you are and will always remain my younger brother. I am very sad to see you go and very emotional about it," Jindal wrote.

Jindal thanked Pant for his contributions and expressed hope for a future reunion. "Thank you for everything, Rishabh. The world is at your feet," he added, highlighting the deep bond they shared during Pant's time with DC.

Pant concluded his message by acknowledging the love and support from fans that he carries with him as he moves forward in his career. His impact on Delhi Capitals will be remembered fondly by both teammates and supporters alike.
