Rishabh Pant And Arshdeep Singh: Cricket Legends Discuss Their Futures In IPL Auction 2025

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, cricket icons Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar have shared their views on players like Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh. Speaking on Star Sports, these former Indian cricketers discussed potential team strategies and dynamics.

Rishabh Pant's unexpected release from Delhi Capitals has stirred conversations about his possible return. Sunil Gavaskar believes Delhi will aim to bring Pant back during the auction.

"Delhi would certainly want Rishabh Pant back in their squad," Gavaskar stated. "Sometimes, disagreements over retention fees can arise, but Delhi needs a captain, and if Pant is not in their squad, they'll have to find a new leader. My feeling is that Delhi will definitely go for him."

Pant responded to Gavaskar's remarks via a tweet, saying, "My retention wasn't about the money for sure, that I can say." Despite missing IPL 2023 due to an accident, he returned in IPL 2024 as captain and scored 446 runs.

Sanjay Manjrekar analysed Punjab Kings' decision to release Arshdeep Singh, who was their second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024 with 19 wickets. Although Arshdeep may not be as strong as before, Manjrekar is hopeful Punjab will try to reacquire him.

"Punjab Kings have released many players to rebuild their core, but they'll definitely want Arshdeep back," Manjrekar said. "He's still capable of delivering wickets with the new ball and in the death overs."

Manjrekar also touched on Mohammed Shami's situation in the auction. He noted that Shami's injury issues might lower his price despite his skill. Teams might hesitate to invest heavily due to potential mid-season injuries.

The IPL 2025 auction will take place from November 24-25. The strategies involving key players like Pant and Arshdeep are crucial for franchises aiming to strengthen their squads for the next season.
