IPL 2025: RCB To Overhaul Team By Releasing Four Key Players
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have concluded their IPL 2024 campaign with a defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. Despite this, their impressive six-match winning streak in the latter half of the season stands out as a significant positive in another trophyless year.
RCB experienced a dramatic turnaround in the final weeks. After losing seven out of their first eight matches, they secured a playoff spot with six consecutive victories. However, their journey ended in the Eliminator with a lacklustre performance.

Virat Kohli was once again the standout performer for RCB this season. The 35-year-old veteran scored 741 runs and appears poised to win the Orange Cap this season. However, apart from Kohli, many of RCB's marquee players struggled throughout the tournament.
With the mega auction approaching next year, RCB is expected to overhaul their current team and form a new-look side for the next cycle. While a few key players may be retained, several big-name players are likely to be released. Here are four players who are expected to be offloaded:
The Australian tops the list of players likely to be discarded next season. Maxwell had a disappointing IPL 2024, scoring just 52 runs in nine innings. His batting performance was particularly underwhelming. Although he had some success with the ball, it is unlikely to be enough to secure his retention.
Cameron Green
Cameron Green was acquired from Mumbai Indians as a trade player for Rs 17.5 crore, but his performance did not justify the investment. Green showed occasional brilliance but was inconsistent overall. He scored 255 runs with an average of 31 and took 10 wickets, but his performance was not at an elite level. RCB may bid for him in the auction but are unlikely to allocate a significant portion of their budget for him.
Alzarri Joseph
RCB spent Rs 11.5 crore on Alzarri Joseph, who played only three matches this season. The West Indies pacer conceded nearly 12 runs per over and took just one wicket, struggling throughout his appearances. Given his high price tag and poor performance, it is unlikely that RCB will retain him.
Akash Deep
Indian pacer Akash Deep has been with RCB for some time but has yet to secure a regular spot in the team. This season, he played one match and conceded nearly 16 runs per over, leading to his exclusion from subsequent games. The 27-year-old is expected to be released ahead of the next auction.
