RCB Secures Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma For INR 11 Crore In IPL Auction 2025
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made headlines at the IPL 2025 mega auction by acquiring wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma for INR 11 crore. This significant investment aims to strengthen RCB's lower-middle order, with Jitesh stepping into the finisher role previously held by Dinesh Karthik.
Jitesh Sharma entered the auction with a base price of INR 1 crore, quickly attracting attention. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) initiated the bidding, swiftly raising it beyond INR 3 crore. LSG withdrew at INR 4.40 crore, allowing RCB to enter with a bid of INR 4.60 crore.

Delhi Capitals (DC) soon joined the competition, pushing the price to INR 4.80 crore. At INR 5.75 crore, Punjab Kings (PBKS), Jitesh's former team, used their Right to Match (RTM) card to reclaim him. However, RCB was determined and escalated the bid to an impressive INR 11 crore, leaving PBKS unable to match.
This substantial bid underscores Jitesh's growing reputation as a dependable finisher and power-hitter in T20 cricket. His ability to deliver under pressure has made him a sought-after player in this format.
Jitesh began his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in 2021 but didn't play any matches. He later joined Punjab Kings in 2022 for Rs 20 lakh, making his debut that season. His fearless batting style and knack for finishing games with impactful performances earned him recognition.
In three IPL seasons, Jitesh has played over 40 matches, amassing 730 runs at a strike rate exceeding 135. Although his average is 22.81, his ability to perform under pressure distinguishes him from others.
His impressive performances have also secured him a spot on the Indian national team. In October 2023, he debuted in T20Is for India and has since played nine matches in this format.
