Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reignited their aspirations for a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs following a decisive 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals on Sunday. This triumph marks their fifth consecutive win, propelling Faf du Plessis's team above the Capitals into fifth place in the standings. With just one game remaining against Chennai Super Kings, RCB now sits merely two points behind the fourth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad, keeping their playoff hopes very much alive.

The match witnessed Rajat Patidar's impressive 32-ball 52 setting a solid foundation for RCB, complemented by Will Jacks's swift 41 off 29 balls. Cameron Green's unbeaten 32 further bolstered the team to a competitive total of 187-9. In contrast, Delhi Capitals struggled from the outset, with David Warner and Abishek Porel being dismissed early, contributing to a dismal start of 30-4 within the first four overs of their innings.

Despite a fighting 57 from 39 balls by stand-in captain Axar Patel, Delhi's efforts were in vain as Yash Dayal and Lockie Ferguson led the bowling attack for RCB. Notably, Dinesh Karthik set an unwanted record for the most ducks in IPL history, surpassing Glenn Maxwell with his 18th duck after being dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed. This marked the second occasion Kuldeep has conceded over fifty runs in this season, following his four for 55 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
