IPL 2024: RCB Marks Historic Wins With Unique Records Against CSK

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have secured a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs, marking a significant achievement. The team triumphed over Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, winning by 27 runs to clinch their place in the knockouts.

Despite a challenging start to the season, Faf du Plessis and his squad demonstrated resilience. Initially, it seemed unlikely for Bengaluru to qualify for the playoffs, but they defied expectations and secured their position. On Saturday, RCB overcame the threat of rain in Bengaluru and are now set to play the Eliminator on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In addition to their qualification, RCB have set two new records in the IPL.

The victory against Chennai Super Kings marked RCB's sixth consecutive win in the competition. In their first eight matches, Virat Kohli and his team managed only one win. By qualifying for the playoffs, RCB have become the first team to reach this stage after winning just one match in their first seven games of an IPL season.

RCB have also become the first team to achieve six consecutive wins and six consecutive losses in a single IPL season. After their first two matches, they had one win and one loss. From Match 3 to Match 8, RCB faced defeats in all games. However, they turned their fortunes around by winning the next six matches of the IPL 2024 group stages.

Previously, Deccan Chargers (2010), Punjab Kings (2020), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2022) experienced similar streaks but with five consecutive wins and losses in those respective years.
