RCB Beats CSK To Claim Last IPL Playoff Spot In Thrilling Match

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured the final playoff spot in the IPL after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs. This victory extended RCB's winning streak to six games, with Faf du Plessis playing a crucial role in ensuring his team finished fourth.

RCB faced a 40-minute rain delay after three overs, resulting in their joint-lowest powerplay score of the season at 42-0. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 47, but Du Plessis' 54 off 39 balls, along with Cameron Green's unbeaten 38, helped RCB set a target of 218-5.

CSK needed to reach 201 to qualify for the playoffs and started well with Rachin Ravindra scoring 61 from 37 balls. However, Du Plessis caught both Ajinkya Rahane and Mitchell Santner, while Yash Dayal's clever bowling in the final over outsmarted MS Dhoni, limiting CSK to 191-7.

Virat Kohli is currently the top-scorer in the ongoing IPL season with 708 runs, which is 125 more than CSK's Ruturaj Gaikwad. If Kohli wins the Orange Cap this season, he will become the first Indian and third batter overall to win multiple Orange Caps, following David Warner (three times) and Chris Gayle (twice).

Dinesh Karthik has hit 18 sixes during the death overs (17 to 20) in this IPL season. Only Tristan Stubbs has scored more runs than Karthik in the last four overs this season.
