RCB Appoints Omkar Salvi As Fast Bowling Coach Ahead Of IPL 2025 Season

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is reportedly preparing to enhance their support staff by bringing in Omkar Salvi, who has previously served as an assistant bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders and is currently the head coach of Mumbai. This move is set to take place ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Omkar Salvi, brother of former India pacer Avishkar Salvi, has been appointed as RCB's fast bowling coach for the upcoming IPL season, according to a report by the Indian Express. His role will commence before the next season begins.

RCB Adds Omkar Salvi to Coaching Staff

Salvi's experience in the IPL includes working with Kolkata Knight Riders as an assistant bowling coach, most recently under Bharat Arun. The official announcement from RCB regarding his appointment is expected soon.

In addition to Salvi's appointment, RCB has already welcomed Dinesh Karthik into their coaching team. Karthik, who retired from cricket earlier this year, will serve as both mentor and batting coach for the team.

Karthik and Salvi have previously collaborated during Karthik's tenure as captain at KKR. Despite having played only one domestic one-day match for Railways, Salvi has earned a reputation as a dedicated and knowledgeable coach in domestic cricket.

Before becoming Mumbai's head coach, Salvi was the bowling coach for the state team under Chandrakant Pandit, who now leads KKR. It remains uncertain if Salvi will replace Adam Griffith at RCB.

The Bengaluru-based franchise has been gradually revamping their coaching staff. Last year, they appointed Andy Flower and Mo Bobat as head coach and director of cricket respectively.

RCB's Strategy for IPL 2025

This week, RCB will focus on assembling a squad capable of securing their first title after 17 unsuccessful attempts. They have retained only Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL Mega Auction 2025.

The franchise aims to recruit more Indian talent during the auction, moving away from their previous strategy of relying heavily on high-profile overseas players.
