Why Rajasthan Royals Are Favored To Win Over Sunrisers Hyderabad In IPL 2024 Qualifier 2

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to face off in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024 on Friday, May 24. SRH, after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Qualifier 1, will meet RR, who triumphed over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator. This match will determine who advances to the IPL 2024 final on Sunday, May 26.

The two teams first clashed this season on May 2, where SRH narrowly won by one run. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's last-ball dismissal of Rovman Powell sealed the victory for SRH, who restricted RR to 200/7. Both teams were also in the spotlight on the final league stage day of IPL 2024.

RR vs SRH: IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 Insights

SRH secured a win against Punjab Kings (PBKS), overtaking RR for the second spot due to a superior Net Run Rate (NRR). However, RR's match against KKR was abandoned due to rain, leaving both teams tied at 17 points. As fate would have it, they now face each other again for a place in the final.

Rajasthan Royals enter this match with significant momentum and confidence after their win against RCB in the Eliminator. RCB was on a six-match unbeaten streak, making them a formidable opponent. However, RR overcame four consecutive defeats to secure a crucial victory.

In contrast, SRH appeared less confident after losing openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma early in their previous match. The eight-wicket loss likely dented their morale.

The slow and spin-friendly conditions at MA Chidambaram Stadium are expected to benefit Rajasthan Royals. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was named Man of the Match in the Eliminator, hinted at including Keshav Maharaj in the bowling lineup against SRH.

RR also boasts Yuzvendra Chahal, the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024. Their pace attack includes Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, and Avesh Khan. Given these conditions, RR's bowling unit is well-equipped to challenge SRH's batting lineup.

Key RR Players Back in Form

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rovman Powell, and Shimron Hetmyer showed promising form against RCB in the Eliminator. This is encouraging for RR, especially as they are without star opener Jos Buttler.

Hetmyer and Powell's performances are particularly noteworthy. Additionally, Riyal Parag is just 33 runs short of reaching 600 runs in IPL 2024, while captain Sanju Samson is the sixth-highest run-scorer with 521 runs. The blend of youth and experience could prove advantageous for Rajasthan Royals.

The upcoming match promises to be an intriguing contest as both teams vie for a spot in the IPL 2024 final. With momentum on their side and favourable conditions at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Rajasthan Royals appear well-prepared for this crucial encounter.
