Rain Disrupts Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli's Practice Session In Colombo

India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli arrived in Colombo on Sunday night. However, their plans for a net session on Monday were thwarted by rain in the Sri Lankan capital.

Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav were seen at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, waiting for the rain to subside before eventually returning to their hotel.

Rain Delays India Team's Practice

Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Harshit Rana also checked into the ITC Ratnadipa hotel in Colombo. Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar travelled from Pallekele to Colombo after India secured victory in the second T20I on Sunday night. This was to facilitate training for the five players selected solely for the ODI leg of the Sri Lanka tour.

Nayar was spotted having tea while Rohit Sharma met with former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews inside the Premadasa Stadium. Mathews has been excluded from the T20I squad following Sri Lanka's poor performance at the T20 World Cup 2024.

The rest of India's coaching staff and players involved in the ODI series will join Rohit and his team after completing the third and final T20I in Pallekele on Tuesday, July 30. India currently leads the series 2-0.

This marks Rohit, Kohli, and Kuldeep's return to action since India's victory at the T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 29. Shreyas Iyer is also making a comeback after being dropped from BCCI's central contract list.

India ODI squad vs Sri Lanka: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana
