Rahul Dravid Set To Leave India Coach Role After T20 World Cup
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is on the lookout for a new head coach as Rahul Dravid's tenure is set to conclude in June 2024. Jay Shah, the Secretary of BCCI, confirmed the impending end of Dravid's contract and the organization's plans to advertise for his successor. Dravid, who assumed the role in November 2021, saw his contract extended to include the 2023 ODI World Cup but will not see an extension beyond June 2024.
Under Dravid's guidance, Team India has enjoyed several successful campaigns, including winning the Asia Cup and reaching the final of the World Cup 2023. Additionally, the team made it to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup in 2022. As Dravid prepares to step down, he aims to leave a lasting legacy by securing an ICC crown at the upcoming T20 World Cup hosted by West Indies and USA.

Jay Shah highlighted that while Dravid is eligible to reapply for his position, the decision regarding his successor, whether Indian or foreign, will rest with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). The BCCI remains open to global candidates for the role, emphasizing its status as a global body in cricket governance.
This transition marks a significant moment for Indian cricket as it seeks new leadership to build on Dravid's contributions. The search for a new head coach comes at a time when Team India is looking to maintain its competitive edge on the international stage.
