Rahul Dravid Eyed For Rajasthan Royals Reunion Amid Sangakkara's England Coaching Rumours
Rahul Dravid is no longer the head coach of the Indian cricket team, sparking speculation about his potential return to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Cricket experts are already discussing which teams might appoint him as their new head coach.
Delhi Capitals have ended their seven-year association with Ricky Ponting. Reports suggest that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is considering Kumar Sangakkara for the head coach position of their white-ball team.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are two teams Rahul Dravid has previously coached. These teams might approach him again ahead of IPL 2025.
If Sangakkara, who has led Rajasthan Royals for four seasons, takes the England job, a vacancy will arise at the Sanju Samson-led team. This could facilitate Rajasthan Royals in reappointing their former captain and coach smoothly.
Former Sri Lanka captain Sangakkara is reportedly close to Rob Key, managing director of England men's side. He also shares a good rapport with England white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who plays for Rajasthan Royals.
Sangakkara was recently asked about coaching England's ODI and T20I sides. He responded by calling it an 'exciting prospect'.
"Well, I know my name has been mentioned for some reason, but there has not been any approach as such. I think the England white-ball job is an exciting prospect for anyone, but there are so many good candidates out there. I am very happy at the moment. The Rajasthan Royals experience has been very fulfilling and it has been a job I have really enjoyed over the last four years," Sangakkara was quoted as saying in the English media recently.
Changes in England's Coaching Staff
Australian Matthew Mott stepped down from his role before his tenure ended after England failed to defend their second consecutive world title in two years. Although they reached the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024, they lost to eventual champions India and finished seventh in the 10-team ODI World Cup 2023.
Marcus Trescothick was recently named interim head coach for next month's five-match home ODI series against Australia. "There will be an interview process at some point but there is no shortlist as of now," an ECB official recently said.
The developments around Dravid and Sangakkara highlight significant shifts in cricket coaching roles, with potential impacts on both IPL teams and international squads.
