Phil Oliver Recognised As Middle East Sport CEO Of The Year At SPIA Awards

Phil Oliver, at the helm of the Desert Vipers, has been awarded the Middle East Sport CEO of the Year. This recognition took place at the SPIA Sports Industry Awards in Abu Dhabi's Space 32 on May 20. The award acknowledges Oliver's exceptional leadership in making the Desert Vipers a leading cricket franchise that significantly contributes to social and environmental advancements.

Under Oliver's direction, the Desert Vipers have established themselves as pioneers in sustainable sports practices. They've implemented groundbreaking initiatives such as publishing a Carbon Footprint and Plastic Impact Report and becoming the first cricket team to wear kits made entirely from recycled materials. Moreover, they have eliminated the use of single-use plastic water bottles within their operations, opting for filtered water stations and reusable bottles, setting a new standard in the sports industry for environmental responsibility.

The Desert Vipers, participating in the DP World ILT20 league, boast a roster filled with international cricket stars like Wanindu Hasaranga, Sam Curran, and Lockie Ferguson. The team has made significant strides both in their sporting performance and their off-field initiatives. They are eagerly anticipating the fourth season of the league, coinciding with the UAE National Day weekend, marking a fusion of top-tier cricket and national festivity.
