PCB Chairman Stresses Discipline In Wake Of Afridi Incident
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently addressed reports of misconduct involving left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi. On Monday, July 16, Naqvi convened a three-hour meeting with coaches, selectors, and other officials at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Naqvi stressed a zero-tolerance stance on disciplinary breaches within the Pakistan cricket team. He underscored that discipline and team unity are non-negotiable values. Any player found violating these principles would face strict consequences.

The meeting included white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, PCB CEO Salman Naseer, assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla, and selection committee members Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq.
Reports indicate that senior pacer Shaheen Afridi had a confrontation with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf during Pakistan's tour of England. This incident occurred just before the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.
The altercation reportedly took place during a net practice session at Headingley. Afridi reacted angrily to Yousuf's comments about his no-balls issue but later apologised to the former Pakistan great.
Changes in Team Management
Following Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, significant changes have been made within the team's management. Wahab Riaz has been removed from his role as senior manager and selection committee member. Additionally, former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq was also dismissed from the selection committee.
The Babar Azam-led side failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the ICC event after losing to both USA and India in the first round.
A lot has been happening in Pakistan cricket since their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. The PCB is taking steps to address issues within the team and ensure better performance in future tournaments.
