PCB Proposes Three Conditions For Hybrid Model In ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed three conditions to accept a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This approach addresses India's reluctance to play in Pakistan due to political issues while maintaining Pakistan's hosting rights for the event.
On the ICC's deadline day, PCB agreed to the hybrid model, allowing India matches at neutral venues. India's firm decision not to travel to Pakistan forced PCB to adjust its initial plan of hosting the entire tournament domestically.

In this hybrid setup, all matches involving India, including group games, semi-finals, and potentially the final, will be played in Dubai. This arrangement ensures India's participation while addressing security and political concerns.
If India does not advance past the group stage, PCB proposes that remaining semi-final and final matches occur in Lahore. Initially planned entirely in Pakistan, this adjustment allows hosting only if India exits early.
Reports indicate PCB presented these conditions to ICC through India Today. Acceptance of these terms could resolve ongoing disputes. The PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was spotted in Dubai during an India U19 match against Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup. It is believed that discussions with ICC took place then.
Neutral Venues for Future ICC Events
The PCB also seeks a reciprocal arrangement for future ICC events. If India hosts any tournaments, they request that Pakistan's matches occur at neutral venues instead of in India.
This compromise reflects a significant shift from PCB's original intention of hosting all matches within Pakistan. However, it aims to ensure smooth participation from all teams involved while addressing geopolitical tensions.
