Pakistan U19 Advance To Semifinals Of Asia Cup 2024 After Victory Over UAE U19
Pakistan U19 secured a spot in the semifinals of the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024 with a commanding 69-run win over UAE U19 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Opting to bat first, Pakistan's innings was highlighted by impressive performances from Shahzaib Khan and Riazullah Khan.
Shahzaib Khan played a pivotal role, scoring a remarkable 132 off 138 balls, marking his second consecutive century in the tournament. His partnership with Riazullah Khan was crucial, as they put together a 183-run stand for the second wicket. Riazullah contributed significantly with a quickfire 106 off 90 balls, helping Pakistan reach an imposing total of 314/3 in their allotted 50 overs.

The UAE bowlers struggled to contain Pakistan's batsmen, especially during the final 10 overs when Pakistan added 105 runs. Faham-ul-Haq's late contribution of 20 runs from just 13 balls further boosted their total, making it challenging for UAE to chase down the target.
In pursuit of 315 runs, UAE U19 faced early setbacks, losing three wickets within the first 15 overs. Aryan Saxena, who had been in good form, was dismissed for just 20 runs. Ethan D'Souza and Rayan Khan then attempted to stabilise the innings with a solid partnership.
The duo added a resilient 100-run partnership, with D'Souza leading the scoring with an impressive 84 runs. However, as pressure mounted during the chase, Rayan Khan fell for 50 runs, leading to a flurry of wickets that hindered UAE's progress.
Abdul Subhan emerged as Pakistan's standout bowler, delivering an exceptional performance with figures of 6/52. His precise bowling and crucial breakthroughs were instrumental in dismantling UAE's batting lineup. He claimed key wickets including those of Saxena and D'Souza.
Pakistan's Dominance and Future Prospects
Haroon Arshad also made valuable contributions with both his fielding and economical bowling spells. His efforts helped tighten Pakistan's hold on the match. Despite some resistance from UAE's lower order, they could only manage to score 245/8 in their full quota of overs.
This victory ensures Pakistan U19 advances to the semifinals as Group A leaders. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka U19 and Bangladesh U19 have already secured their spots from Group B. The upcoming match between UAE and India U19 will determine which team joins them in the semifinals.
Pakistan's consistent performances throughout the tournament underscore their potential to win the coveted U19 Asia Cup title. Their clinical display against UAE sets a high standard for other teams in the competition.
