Pakistani Players Set To Star In Lanka Premier League 2024 Season 5
Eight Pakistani cricketers have been acquired by teams for the upcoming fifth season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024. The auction took place at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo on Tuesday, May 21.
The LPL's fifth edition is set to run from July 1 to 21, featuring five teams: B-Love Kandy, Colombo Strikers, Galle Titans, Dambulla Thunders, and Jaffna Kings. These teams expanded their squads during the auction.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) reported that 420 players registered for the LPL 2024 auction, including 154 from Sri Lanka and 266 from overseas. Some players were retained before the auction.
Eight Pakistani players will participate in the next edition of the LPL. All-rounder Shadab Khan was retained by Colombo Strikers, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris was retained by B-Love Kandy before the bidding began.
Seven other Pakistani players were picked up during the auction. Right-arm pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr. was signed by Colombo Strikers for $20,000. Dambulla Thunders acquired Iftikhar Ahmed for $50,000 and Haider Ali for $25,000.
Defending champions B-Love Kandy added wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan for $50,000, pacer Mohammad Hasnain for $30,000, pacer Mohammad Ali for $10,000, and all-rounder Salman Ali Agha for $10,000 to their roster.

Three of these eight players will represent Pakistan at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan has been drawn into Group A alongside India, USA, Ireland, and Canada.
