Pakistan's PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi Confirms Hosting Of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Without Hybrid Model
Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has declared that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted in Pakistan. This statement comes despite objections from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Naqvi stressed that Pakistan's dignity is non-negotiable, and they will not agree to a hybrid model for the tournament.
The BCCI's reluctance to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns has led to tensions between the two cricket boards. In response, the BCCI proposed a hybrid model to the International Cricket Council (ICC), suggesting that while most matches occur in Pakistan, India's games should be held at neutral venues like Dubai or Sri Lanka.

Naqvi firmly rejected this proposal, insisting that all matches should take place in Pakistan. He urged direct communication with the PCB if India had any issues. "Pakistan's pride and respect is our priority. Champions Trophy will take place in our country only, we will not accept Hybrid Model. If India have any issues, they can come to us and we will sort them out," Naqvi stated outside the PCB head office in Lahore.
He also criticised the ongoing disputes between cricketing bodies and called on the ICC to make a fair decision regarding the tournament's venue. Naqvi emphasized that sports should remain separate from politics and expressed hope for a positive resolution from the BCCI regarding this matter.
The PCB chairman highlighted Pakistan's extensive preparations for hosting the event. He mentioned that efforts are underway to upgrade stadiums across Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi ahead of schedule. "World cricket must see the ongoing full-fledged preparations of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. PCB will complete the upgradation work in cricket stadiums of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi before time," he added.
Naqvi believes that these preparations demonstrate Pakistan's commitment to hosting an international event successfully. He urged global cricket authorities to acknowledge these efforts and support their stance on holding all matches within Pakistan.
The situation remains tense as both cricket boards stand firm on their positions. The PCB continues its preparations while awaiting further discussions with relevant stakeholders to resolve this issue amicably.
