Pakistan Clinches Victory Against West Indies In WCL 2024 Semi-Final
Pakistan Champions secured a spot in the final of the inaugural World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 by defeating West Indies Champions by 20 runs. The match took place on Friday, July 12, at the County Cricket Ground in Northampton, England.
After being put into bat, Pakistan faced early setbacks as they lost Sharjeel Khan, Shoaib Maqsood, and Shoaib Malik quickly. Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards rolled back the years with their fast bowling partnership to leave Pakistan struggling at 10 for 3 in just 2 overs.

Kamran Akmal (46 off 31 balls) and skipper Younis Khan (65 off 45 balls) then steadied the innings with a crucial 79-run partnership. Their efforts took Pakistan closer to the 100-run mark before quickfire contributions from Aamer Yamin (40* off 18 balls) and Sohail Tanvir (33 off 17 balls) pushed the total to a competitive 198 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sohail Khan was instrumental with the ball, finishing with figures of 4 for 21. His performance earned him the player of the match award as he helped bundle out West Indies for 178 in 19.5 overs. This victory set up a potential final clash against either India or Australia on Saturday, July 13.
Ashley Nurse top-scored for West Indies with a quickfire 36 off 24 balls, while Rayad Emrit added a brisk 29 off just nine deliveries. Openers Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith contributed with scores of 22 and 26 respectively but failed to provide the explosive start needed.
Defending their total of 199, Pakistan struck early as Sohail Khan removed Gayle for just 22 runs in his first over, thanks to a spectacular catch by Wahab Riaz. Sohail then dismissed Chadwick Walton an over later, putting Pakistan firmly in control.

Wahab Riaz supported Sohail well by claiming two wickets and executing a run-out. Shoaib Malik also chipped in with two wickets while Kamran Akmal's excellent run-out further dented West Indies' chase before Sohail returned to clean up the tail.
